It's a great day to be a Hornet!
Regional Champions
The Scales Mound Hornets have won 5 regional titles while competing in the IHSA state series. The titles were won in 1984, 1989, 2009, 2010, and 2012. These were definitely memorable moments in Hornet History.
2015-2016 Season Review
The Scales Mound Hornets season came to an end on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the East Dubuque Regional Tournament. The Stockton Blackhawks and the Hornets played a classic in East Dubuque. The first half was a see-saw affair that saw both teams trading the lead back and forth. The Blackhawks would push ahead at the half by a score of 17-15. The third quarter was all Blackhawks as they built upon their halftime lead. The lead would swell to as big as 14 points with 5 minutes to play in the fourth quarter. However, the Hornets would not go away like many games this season. Three point shots by Jalen Phillips, Harrison Jakel, and Jack Korte narrowed the gap. Ultimately, Harrison Jakel would tie the game with an old-fashioned three point play with just over a minute remaining in the game: 34-34. Jace Springer of Stockton would provide the game winner with 5 seconds left when he drilled a 15 foot shot from the elbow. The Hornets did get one last look from 15 feet away, but the shot was just long and bounced off of the back iron to defeat. It was a solid season for a great group of seniors. The Hornets finished the season at 13-15 overall.
Thank you, seniors!
